Regular Season Round 18: PeKa - Huima 90-70

Date: January 18, 2017
No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Peli-Karhut (7-10) crushed 9th ranked Aanekosken (6-14) in Kotka 90-70 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Peli-Karhut. Aanekosken was better in second period 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Peli-Karhut looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Aanekosken's players. It was a good game for American guard Daisha Simmons (178-91, college: Seton Hall, agency: Gamble Sports Management) who led her team to a victory with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The other American import forward Amanda Lassiter (186-79, college: Missouri) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Peli-Karhut's coach Roope Makela allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Ghanian forward Batabe Zempare (188-94, college: CSU Bakersfield, agency: LBM Management) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds and American guard Faith Randolph (178, college: Virginia) added 21 points in the effort for Aanekosken. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Peli-Karhut have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position with 7-10 record. Aanekosken lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 14 games lost. Peli-Karhut will face ViVe (#8) in Vimpeli in the next round. Aanekosken will play on the road against Helmi Basket in Helsinki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
