Regular Season Round 19: ALS Basket - SAP Vaucluse 76-83

There was a small surprise when sixteenth ranked SAP Vaucluse (8-12) defeated 13th ranked ALS Basket (9-11) in Andrezieux 83-76 on Wednesday. ALS Basket trailed by 14 points at halftime and as many as 19 after three quarters before a 31-19 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 76-83 at the end of the game. Quite impressive performance for Mali power forward Cheick Soumaoro (204-90) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 8 rebounds. American point guard Deremy Geiger (180-90, college: Idaho, agency: Blacktop Management) contributed with 22 points and 6 assists for the winners. SAP Vaucluse's coach Sylvain Lautie used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American point guard Jerrold Brooks (183-91, college: S.Mississippi, agency: Interperformances) answered with 25 points (made all of his seven free throws) and Bosnian power forward Nemanja Kovanusic (204-93) added 13 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for ALS Basket. SAP Vaucluse have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourteenth place. ALS Basket lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the eleventh position with 11 games lost. SAP Vaucluse will have a break next round.
