No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Alianza Viedma (9-9) beat 6th ranked Petr.Argentino (6-13) in Rio Negro 78-70 on Thursday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-14. But Petr.Argentino won third quarter 23-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Petr.Argentino 41-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American swingman O'Louis McCullough (198-82, college: Francis Marion, agency: DTMones) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. Swingman Mateo Gaynor (199-90) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American forward Cedric Blossom (198, college: Morgan St., agency: DTMones) answered with 24 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized Italian point guard Mariano Castets (183-83) added 19 points in the effort for Petr.Argentino. Petr.Argentino's coach Daniel Jaule rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Alianza Viedma maintains fourth place with 9-9 record, which they share with Rocamora. Petr.Argentino lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the sixth position with 13 games lost. Alianza Viedma will face higher ranked CA Temperley (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Petr.Argentino will play against Huracan in Trelew and hope to win that game.
