Regular Season Round 31: SeaHorses - Osaka Evessa 84-83

Third-ranked Osaka Evessa (16-14) gave a tough game to first ranked Aishin Sea Horses (22-6) in Kariya on Thursday. Aishin Sea Horses managed to secure only one-point victory 84-83. However their fans expected easier game. Aishin Sea Horses had a 38-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for the former international center JR Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international swingman Makoto Hiejima (190-90) helped adding 19 points and 6 assists. Aishin Sea Horses' coach Kimikazu Suzuki used entire bench in such tough game. At the losing side American forward Josh Harrellson (208-89, college: Kentucky) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and Takuya Hashimoto (186-94) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Four Osaka Evessa players scored in double figures. Aishin Sea Horses have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 22-6 record, which they share with Tochigi Brex. Osaka Evessa at the other side keeps the third position with 14 games lost. They share it with Niigata Albirex. Aishin Sea Horses is looking forward to face Chiba Jets (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Osaka Evessa will play against Akita Happinets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
