Regular Season Round 17: Kongsberg - Baerum Basket 104-100

An interesting game for Kongsberg (17-2) which hosted in Kongsberg second-ranked Baerum Basket (13-5). First ranked Kongsberg managed to get a 4-point victory 104-100. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Baerum Basket. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 104-100. Kongsberg dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Baerum Basket's 40. 24 personal fouls committed by Baerum Basket helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard C.J. Oldham (203-91, college: Gannon) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Cuban-American guard Juan Ferrales (188-91, college: Barry) contributed with 24 points and 5 assists for the winners. Five Kongsberg players scored in double figures. Point guard Stian Mjos (183-89) answered with 36 points (!!!) and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and American point guard Eric Gilchrese (183-87, college: New Hampshire) added 28 points and 5 assists in the effort for Baerum Basket. Baerum Basket's coach Matthias Eckhoff rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kongsberg have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with 17-2 record. Baerum Basket at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. Kongsberg are looking forward to face Ammerud Bskt (#9) in Oslo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Baerum Basket will play on the road against Froya Basket (#3) in Laksevag and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
