Regular Season Round 18: HyPo - Helmi Basket 99-63

SM-sarja top team - HyPo (15-2) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they crushed tenth ranked Helmi Basket (3-14) in Hyvinkaa 99-63. The game without a history. HyPo led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Helmi Basket's 24. They outrebounded Helmi Basket 42-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. HyPo looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a good game for the former international center Taru Tuukkanen (192-77, college: Xavier) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field). American guard Bria Goss (178-92, college: Kentucky) contributed with 17 points and 4 assists for the winners. International center Helmi Tulonen (189-98) replied with 16 points and 5 rebounds and international guard Lotta-Maj Lahtinen (173-99) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Helmi Basket. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. HyPo have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 15-2 record. Helmi Basket lost eighth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom place with 14 games lost. HyPo will have a break next round. Helmi Basket will play at home against Aanekosken (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
