Regular Season Round 17: Vestri - Armann 98-81

Bottom-ranked Armann (0-16) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 98-81 loss to sixth ranked Vestri (6-8) in on Friday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Vestri. Armann managed to win third quarter 25-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was Serbian swingman Nebojsa Knezevic (196-87) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Yima Chia-Kur (196-86, college: Arkansas St.) chipped in 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Chia-Kur is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Vestri's coach Ingvi Gunnlaugsson used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Arnthor Fjalarsson produced 24 points and 9 rebounds and guard Magnus Hjalmarsson (184) added 25 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Vestri have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place. Armann at the other side still closes the standings. Vestri are looking forward to face higher ranked Valur (#3) in Reykjavik in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Armann will have a break next round.
