Korisliiga top team - Helsinki Seagulls (18-4) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat sixth ranked Kouvot (8-12) 87-73. The game was mostly controlled by Helsinki Seagulls. Kouvot was better in third quarter 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Helsinki Seagulls players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. The winners were led by swingman Raymond Cowels III (193-90, college: Santa Clara) who scored that evening 21 points and 5 rebounds and guard Remy Abell (193-92, college: Xavier, agency: Inception Sports) supported him with 14 points. Even a double-double of 15 points and 14 rebounds by forward Rakeem Buckles (203-90, college: FIU) did not help to save the game for Kouvot. Guard Steven Pledger (193-90, college: Oklahoma) added 17 points and 7 rebounds. Four Kouvot players scored in double figures. Helsinki Seagulls have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 18-4 record. Defending champion Kouvot keeps the sixth place with 12 games lost. Helsinki Seagulls will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Kouvot will play on the road against KTP-Basket (#7) in Kotka and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
