Regular Season Round 22: Union SF - Mitre Tuc. 87-83
Date: January 20, 2017
Very predictable result in Santa Fe where first ranked Union SF (15-4) defeated 6th ranked Mitre Tuc. (5-15) 87-83 on Friday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-83. Center Fernando Podesta (205-92) scored 21 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and forward Patricio Tabarez (195-91) chipped in 19 points during the contest. Four Union SF players scored in double figures. Union SF's coach Daniel Beltramo used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side guard Jose Muruaga (188-84) responded with 25 points and Pablo Osores (194-86) scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. Union SF have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 15-4 record. Mitre Tuc. lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the seventh place with 15 games lost. Union SF will face Villa Angela (#3) in Villa Angela in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Mitre Tuc. will play at home against the league's second-placed San Isidro (#2) and hope to win that game.
