Regular Season Round 15: Empoli - Orvieto 63-62

The most exciting game of round 15 in the Serie A2 took place in Empoli. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed Orvieto (10-4) to second ranked Empoli (12-3) 63-62 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Orvieto. The hosts trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 17-12 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Empoli forced 20 Orvieto turnovers. It was a great evening for Czech center Klara Pochobradska (186-89) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Lithuanian power forward Gintare Mazionyte (188-91, college: Texas) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds and guard Valentina Bonasia (164-94) scored 8 points and 9 rebounds. Empoli maintains second place with 12-3 record having just two points less than leader Bologna. Orvieto at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Empoli are looking forward to face Alghero (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Orvieto will play against Costa Masnaga (#6) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
