Regular Season Round 27: Kosice - Nova Ves 97-91

Leader Kosice delivered the twenty first victory. This time they beat 10th ranked Nova Ves (4-21) 97-91. Kosice made 28-of-36 charity shots (77.8 percent) during the game, while Nova Ves only scored twelve points from the stripe. Kosice players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Nova Ves were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for the former international center Michal Batka (204-87) who led his team to a victory with 22 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Serbian guard Stefan Matovic (203-91) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Kosice's coach Drazen Brajkovic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. International forward Viktor Juricek (211-93, college: Texas A&M-CC) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds and swingman Vladimir Hovanak (193-82) added 13 points and 4 assists in the effort for Nova Ves. Five Kosice and four Nova Ves players scored in double figures. Kosice have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 21-4 record. Nova Ves at the other side keep the tenth position with 21 games lost. Kosice will play against Rieker KN (#5) in Komarno in the next round. Nova Ves will play at home against Handlova (#6) and hope to get back on the winning track.
