Regular Season Round 32: Hokkaido L. - Shiga L-Stars 84-74

There was a minor upset in Saporro where 6th ranked Shiga L-Stars (6-25) were defeated by sixth ranked Hokkaido L. (8-23) 84-74 on Saturday. Hokkaido L. dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Shiga L-Stars' 34. They outrebounded Shiga L-Stars 38-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. Hokkaido L. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Daniel Miller (211-91, college: Georgia Tech) who scored 26 points and 6 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field). The other American import forward Jahmar Thorpe (198-84, college: Houston) chipped in 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. American Craig Brackins (208-87, college: Iowa St.) produced 19 points and 7 rebounds and Zimbabwean-American Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Hokkaido L. moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Akita NH. Shiga L-Stars lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 25 games lost. Hokkaido L. will face again Shiga L-Stars (#6) at home in the next round.
