Regular Season Round 32: Tochigi Brex - Toshiba BT 72-60

Top ranked Toshiba Thunders (26-5) recorded its fifth loss on the court of second ranked Tochigi Brex on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Tochigi Brex 72-60. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Toshiba Thunders. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Tochigi Brex. Toshiba Thunders managed to win third quarter 24-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Takatoshi Furukawa (190-87) who scored 16 points and 4 assists. The former international power forward Kosuke Takeuchi (206-85) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. Furukawa is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 17 rebounds and Senegalese swingman Mamadou Diouf (197-77, college: Delaware) added 11 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tochigi Brex have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 23-6 record having five points less than leader SeaHorses. Toshiba Thunders at the other side still keep top place with five games lost. Tochigi Brex are again looking forward to face league's leader Toshiba Thunders in Kanagawa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Toshiba Thunders will have a break next round.
