Regular Season Round 31: Kagoshima - Gunma 68-80

Very expected game in Renova where 6th ranked Kagoshima (3-26) was defeated by second ranked Gunma (20-9) 80-68 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Gunma. Kagoshima was better in third quarter 22-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Kagoshima to just 5 points in first quarter. Gunma had a 34-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American center Marcus Cousin (211-86, college: Houston) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 17 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy) helped adding 14 points. Five Gunma players scored in double figures. At the losing side Nigerian forward Chukwudiebere Maduabum (206-91) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and forward Ryuichiro Nakazono (190-78) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gunma keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Fukushima. Kagoshima lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 26 games lost. Gunma will have a break next round. Kagoshima will play again at home against the league's leader Gunma (#1) and hope to win that game.
