Regular Season Round 31: Toyotsu FE - Iwate Big Bulls 81-69

Not a big story in a game in Nagoya where 6th ranked Iwate Big Bulls (7-22) were defeated by first ranked Toyotsu FE (23-6) 81-69 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Toyotsu FE. Iwate Big Bulls was better in third quarter 20-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Toyotsu FE made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Iwate Big Bulls were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Nigerian center Solomon Alabi (216-88, college: Florida St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. American forward Rodney Carney (201-84, college: Memphis) helped adding 21 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side American center Donald Lawson (208-88, college: W.Michigan) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks and swingman Makoto Sawaguchi (184-91) scored 14 points and 8 assists. Four Iwate Big Bulls players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyotsu FE have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 23-6 record, which they share with Hiroshima D. Loser Iwate Big Bulls keep the sixth position with 22 games lost. Toyotsu FE will face again Iwate Big Bulls (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
