Regular Season Round 14: Kymis - Lavrio 81-86

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 8th ranked Kymis (5-9) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Lavrio (5-9) 86-81. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Kymis won third quarter 19-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Lavrio won last quarter 27-24. They also forced 20 Kymis turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Lavrio especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 62.5 percentage. American guard Kevin Punter (188-93, college: Tennessee) notched 23 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and the other American import point guard Zamal Nixon (186-89, college: Houston, agency: Two Points) supported him with 8 points and 6 assists. Even a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds by center Stavros Toutziarakis (210-87, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for Kymis. British point guard Ogooluwa Adegboye (182-87, college: St.Bonaventure, agency: Octagon Europe) added 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. Four Kymis players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Lavrio moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Kymis and Trikalla. Kymis lost third consecutive game. Lavrio's next round opponent will be higher ranked AEK Athens (#3) at home and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
