Regular Season Round 31: Fukushima - Hiroshima D. 70-82
Date: January 21, 2017
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Fukushima (20-9) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by Dragonflies (23-6) 82-70. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Fukushima. The game was mostly controlled by Dragonflies. Fukushima managed to win third quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 28 personal fouls committed by Fukushima helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for American forward Connor Lammert (206-94, college: Texas) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 16 rebounds. Australian-Trinidad and Tobago guard Daniel Dillon (193-86, college: Arizona) helped adding 12 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Donnavan Kirk (206-91, college: Miami, FL) responded with 19 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import center Nigel Spikes (208-89, college: Marshall) scored 9 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dragonflies have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Toyotsu FE. Fukushima at the other side still keeps top place with nine games lost. They share the position with Gunma. Dragonflies will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Fukushima will play again at home against the league's second-placed Dragonflies and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
