Regular Season Round 15: Olimpico 64 - Distrito Olimpico 66-64

Olimpico 64's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after 14 consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they edged much higher ranked Distrito Olimpico (9-6) 66-64 on Saturday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. It was a good game for power forward Katia Javier (182-93) who led her team to a victory with 20 points and 8 rebounds. The former international power forward Irene Herradas (186-78) contributed with 9 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Dominican guard Yohanna Morton (172-87, college: Robert Morris) answered with 16 points and center Daira Varas (193-89) added 13 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for Distrito Olimpico. Distrito Olimpico's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Olimpico 64 maintains fourteenth place in Group B with 1-14 record. Loser Distrito Olimpico dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Olimpico 64 will face higher ranked IF Air Europa (#12) in S'Arenal in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Distrito Olimpico will play against Promete (#10) and hope to win that game.
