Regular Season Round 15: Polpharma - Asseco 99-87

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 13th ranked Asseco's (6-10) road loss to twelfth ranked Polpharma (8-9) in Starogard 87-99 on Saturday. Polpharma forced 19 Asseco turnovers. Asseco was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Lithuanian center Martynas Sajus (208-96) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Lithuanian Martynas Paliukenas (191-93) contributed with 13 points and 4 assists for the winners. The former international point guard Krzysztof Szubarga (178-84) answered with 18 points and 6 rebounds and international guard Filip Matczak (187-93) added 18 points in the effort for Asseco. Five Polpharma and four Asseco players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Polpharma moved-up to eleventh place. Loser Asseco keeps the thirteenth position with ten games lost. Polpharma will face higher ranked Anwil (#3) in Wloclawek in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Asseco will play at home against MKS Dabrowa Gornicza (#5) and hope to win that game.
