Regular Season Round 24: El Jaysh - Al Khor 93-57

Very predictable result when top-ranked El Jaysh (11-0) rolled over bottom-ranked Al Khor (1-10) in Doha 93-57 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by El Jaysh. Al Khor was better in third quarter 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. El Jaysh dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Al Khor's 34. They outrebounded Al Khor 40-27 including a 34-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. El Jaysh looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Al Khor's players. It was a good game for American power forward Vernon Macklin (208-86, college: Florida) who led his team to a victory with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. International Ali Saeed Erfan (198-83) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four El Jaysh players scored in double figures. El Jaysh's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American Rickey Young (205-90, college: W.Virginia Tech) replied with 32 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Dairese Gary (185-88, college: N.Mexico) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Al Khor. El Jaysh have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 11-0 record. Al Khor lost tenth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with ten games lost. El Jaysh's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Sadd.
