The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Slask (17-1) in Walbrzych on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by second ranked Gornik (17-2) 70-63. It ended at the same time the 15-game winning streak of Slask. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in Group D. They outrebounded Slask 50-31 including a 35-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international center Piotr Niedzwiedzki (210-93) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Rafal Niesobski (189-82) contributed with 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Wojciech Jakubiak (180-96) replied with 19 points and forward Mateusz Stawiak (203-96) added 8 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Slask. Slask's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Gornik maintains second position in Group D with 17-2 record having just one point less than leader R8 Basket Krk. Slask at the other side still keeps top place with one game lost. Gornik will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Slask will play at home against Koscian and is hoping to win this game.
