Regular Season Round 15: Lattes Montp. - Villeneuve 74-68
Date: January 21, 2017
No shocking result in a game when third ranked Lattes Montpellier (11-4) beat at home 5th ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (9-6) 74-68. It looked good early as Villeneuve D'Ascq took a 5-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Lattes Montpellier had a 15-8 second period charge getting the lead and Villeneuve D'Ascq was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 68-74. Lattes Montpellier made 18-of-21 charity shots (85.7 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was the former international center Elodie Godin (191-85) who scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. The former international forward Fatimatou Sacko (177-85) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized Senegalese forward Mame-Marie Sy-Diop (185-85) who recorded 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international guard Virginie Bremont (177-87) added 15 points, 5 assists and 4 steals respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion moved-up to second place. Villeneuve D'Ascq at the other side dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. Lattes Montpellier's next round opponent will be Nice (#7) on the road which should be theoretically an easy game. Villeneuve D'Ascq will play against the league's leader Flammes and hope to win that game.
