Regular Season Round 14: Limoges - Avenir 66-68

Tenth-ranked Limoges (4-10) made lots of trouble for first ranked Avenir (13-1) on Saturday. The visitors from Chartres managed to secure only two-point victory 68-66. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Limoges. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Limoges won fourth quarter 23-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American forward Tiffany Clarke (183-91, college: Vanderbilt) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds. Point guard Magali Mendy (178-90) chipped in 8 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Avenir players scored in double figures. U.S. Virgin Islands-American swingman Natalie Day (182-90, college: Portland) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and Ukrainian center Anna Kiriienko (190-93) added 17 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) respectively for the hosts. Avenir have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 13-1 record. Limoges at the other side dropped to the eleventh place with ten games lost. They share the position with Dunkerque. Avenir are looking forward to face Aulnoye (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Limoges will play against Montbrison and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
