Regular Season Round 15: Stabia - Viterbo 60-61

A very interesting game took place in Stabia. It ended with only one-point home defeat of 9th ranked Castellammare (4-10) to eleventh ranked Viterbo (4-10) 61-60 in the fight for the ninth place. Castellammare was ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 15-7 third quarter run of Viterbo. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Castellammare to just 7 points in third quarter. Viterbo forced 19 Castellammare turnovers. It was a good game for Giulia Ciavarella (181-97) who saved her team from a defeat with 11 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Anna Romagnoli (175-92) contributed with 12 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Viterbo players scored in double figures. Viterbo's coach Carlo Scaramuccia allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American-Irish forward Fiona O'Dwyer (178-99, college: Emmanuel, MA) answered with 22 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Raffaella Potolicchio (169-90) added 20 points (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) in the effort for Castellammare. Viterbo moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Stabia. Castellammare lost fourth consecutive game. Viterbo's next round opponent will be league's leader Bologna at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
