Regular Season Round 32: Toyama Grouses - Ryukyu GK 88-87

A very close game took place in Toyama between Toyama Grouses and Ryukyu GK. Sixth ranked Toyama Grouses (6-25) got a very close home victory over 4th ranked Ryukyu GK (14-17). Toyama Grouses managed to escape with a 1-point win 88-87 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Ryukyu GK. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-18. But Ryukyu GK won second period 14-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Toyama Grouses made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Takeshi Mito (184-85) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 4 assists and American forward Sam Willard (205-88, college: Pacific, agency: Pensack Sports) who added 16 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. American power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) responded with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and his fellow American import forward Reyshawn Terry (203-84, college: N.Carolina) scored 21 points. Four Toyama Grouses and five Ryukyu GK players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Toyama Grouses maintains sixth position with 6-25 record, which they share with Shiga L-Stars. Loser Ryukyu GK keeps the fourth place with 17 games lost. Toyama Grouses will again meet at home higher ranked Ryukyu GK (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Ryukyu GK will have a break next round.
