Regular Season Round 15: Cagliari CUS - Milano 45-73
Date: January 21, 2017
Not a big story in a game when 13th ranked Cagliari CUS (2-12) was rolled over at home by fifth ranked Milano (11-4) 73-45 on Saturday. Milano outrebounded Cagliari CUS 41-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for forward Giulia Maffenini (175-92, agency: Two Points) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. Power forward Stefania Guarneri (182-95) helped adding 11 points and 9 rebounds. Milano's coach Franz Pinotti felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was point guard Federica Alesiani (170-97) with 13 points and 5 assists and Lithuanian Julita Bungaite (187-87, college: Hawaii, agency: Promotex) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Milano moved-up to third place. Loser Cagliari CUS keeps the thirteenth position with 12 games lost. Milano will face San Salvatore (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Cagliari CUS will play against Albino (#10) and hope to win that game.
