Regular Season Round 11: Athinaikos - Olympiacos 59-79

An interesting game for Olympiacos (11-0) which played road game in Athens against 3rd placed Athinaikos (6-4). Leader Olympiacos had an easy win 79-59. Olympiacos dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Athinaikos' 28. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American forward Lykendra Johnson (185-89, college: Michigan St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. The former international forward Styliani Kaltsidou (188-83, agency: Josep and Nicolas) contributed with 17 points and 5 assists for the winners. Olympiacos' coach Eleni Kapogianni used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Anthoula Balta (174-87) answered with 10 points and 9 assists and American forward Kaylon Williams (190, college: Oklahoma) added 10 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Athinaikos. Olympiacos have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 11-0 record. Athinaikos at the other side dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Proteas. Olympiacos are looking forward to face Aris Thessal. (#9) in Thessaloniki in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Athinaikos' supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Dafni Agioy.
