Regular Season Round 33: Hokkaido L. - Shiga L-Stars 92-81

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Shiga L-Stars (6-26) lost to sixth ranked Hokkaido L. (9-23) in Saporro 81-92 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 92-81. It was a good game for American forward Jahmar Thorpe (198-84, college: Houston) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 9 rebounds. International forward Takanobu Nishikawa (195-92) contributed with 24 points for the winners. Zimbabwean-American Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) answered with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and American Craig Brackins (208-87, college: Iowa St.) added 14 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Shiga L-Stars. Five Shiga L-Stars players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hokkaido L. moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Sendai 89ers. Shiga L-Stars lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 26 games lost. Hokkaido L. will face Toyama Grouses (#6) on the road in the next round. Shiga L-Stars will play against Yokohama BC and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
