Regular Season Round 18: Viola RC - Roma Virtus 83-104

Very expected game when 14th ranked Viola RC (6-12) was smashed by sixth ranked Roma Virtus (11-7) in Reggio Calabria 104-83 on Sunday. Roma Virtus shot 63.1 percent from the field. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a good game for the former international point guard Massimo Chessa (188-88) who led his team to a victory with 33 points (!!!). Naturalized American point guard Anthony Raffa (185-89, college: Co.Carolina) contributed with 23 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American-Jordanian guard Alex Legion (195-88, college: FIU, agency: Octagon Europe) replied with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Croatian power forward Ivica Radic (208-90, agency: XL Basketball Agency) added 17 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Viola RC. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Viola RC's coach Antonio Paternoster gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Roma Virtus moved-up to fifth place in A2. Loser Viola RC keeps the fourteenth position with 12 games lost. Roma Virtus will face league's second-placed Angelico Biella at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Viola RC will play against Mens Sana 1871 (#8) in Siena and hope to win that game.
