Sixth-ranked La Union (5-13) gave a tough game to first ranked Olimpo (14-6) in Colon. The visitors from Bahia Blanca managed to secure only three-point victory 89-86. However their fans expected much easier game. Olimpo outrebounded La Union 48-26 including a 14-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Guard Christian Schoppler (185-86) notched 28 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Valentin Bettiga (190-99) supported him with 14 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Olimpo players scored in double figures. Even 25 points and 6 rebounds by American Rakim Brown (198-91, college: Humboldt St.) did not help to save the game for La Union. Point guard Carlos Buendia (178-95) added 27 points for lost side. Olimpo have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 14-6 record. La Union at the other side keeps the sixth place with 13 games lost. Olimpo will play against Rocamora (#5) on the road in the next round. La Union will play against Huracan in Trelew and hopes to get back on the winning track.
