Regular Season Round 15: Ironi Nahariya - Hapoel J-M 78-81

The most exciting game of round 15 in the Winner League took place in Nahariya. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 6th ranked Ironi Nahariya (7-8) to fourth ranked Hapoel Jerusalem (9-6) 81-78 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Ironi Nahariya. The guests trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-78. It was a good game for the former international forward Lior Eliyahu (205-85) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 6 rebounds. American power forward Travis Peterson (208-85, college: Samford) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Derwin Kitchen (194-86, college: Florida St.) answered with 6 points, 7 rebounds and 14 assists and the other American import power forward Tyrone Nash (203-88, college: Notre Dame) added 16 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Ironi Nahariya. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ironi Nahariya's coach Eric Elfasi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Hapoel Jerusalem have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Bnei Hertzeliyya. Ironi Nahariya at the other side dropped to the seventh position with eight games lost. They share it with Maccabi Haifa and Hapoel Eilat. Hapoel Jerusalem is looking forward to face league's second-placed Hapoel Holon at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ironi Nahariya will play against Maccabi Haifa (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
