Regular Season Round 16: CREF Hola - Zamarat 64-61
Date: January 22, 2017
A very interesting game took place in Madrid. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 12th ranked Zamarat (5-11) to thirteenth ranked CREF Hola (4-12) 64-61 on Sunday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Zamarat won third quarter 15-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Zamarat 40-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. 25 personal fouls committed by Zamarat helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by Nigerian forward Sarah Imovbioh (188-92, college: S.Carolina) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 14 points and 21 rebounds and the former international forward Tamara Abalde (190-89) supported her with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Four CREF Hola players scored in double figures. Even 12 points and 7 rebounds by Montenegrin center Ana Turcinovic-Pocek (190-93) did not help to save the game for Zamarat. Ester Martin (166-97) added 10 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. CREF Hola maintains thirteenth position with 4-12 record. Zamarat at the other side keeps the twelfth place with 11 games lost. CREF Hola's next round opponent will be league's leader Perfumerias Avenida in Salamanca and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
