Regular Season Round 32: Yamagata - Shimane SM 38-76

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Yamagata. Third ranked Shimane Magic faced one of their biggest challengers Yamagata. Guests from Shimane (23-6) smashed host Yamagata (14-16) 76-38. The game without a history. Shimane Magic led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They held Yamagata to an opponent 23.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 52.4 percent accuracy of the winners. Shimane Magic had a 37-25 advantage in offensive rebounds. The game was dominated by American players. Center Wayne Marshall (211-86, college: Temple) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Forward Josh Davis (203-91, college: San Diego St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Center Markhuri Sanders-Frison (203-88, college: California) replied with 7 points and 12 rebounds and swingman Seth Tarver (196-88, college: Oregon St.) added 8 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Yamagata. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Shimane Magic have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 23-6 record behind leader Gunma which they share with defeated Yamagata. Yamagata lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with 16 games lost. They share the position with Aomori Watts. Shimane Magic will play against league's second-placed Fukushima at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Yamagata will play against Bambitious Nara and hopes to get back on the winning track.
