Regular Season Round 33: Hitachi SR - Sendai 89ers 79-66

An interesting game for Hitachi Sunrockers (15-15) which hosted in Tokyo 4th placed Sendai 89ers (9-23). Fourth ranked Hitachi Sunrockers managed to get a 13-point victory 79-66. Sendai 89ers were ahead by 4 points at the halftime before a 47-30 second half run of Hitachi Sunrockers. They outrebounded Sendai 89ers 42-31 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Canadian center Robert Sacre (213-89, college: Gonzaga) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Point guard Leo Vendrame (183-93) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 assists and 4 steals. Hitachi Sunrockers' coach BT Toews allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) who recorded 20 points and 5 rebounds and forward Takayuki Kumagai (190-85) added 12 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hitachi Sunrockers maintains fourth place with 15-15 record which they share with defeated Sendai 89ers. Sendai 89ers at the other side keep the fourth position with 23 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Tochigi Brex at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sendai 89ers will play against Kyoto Hannar. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
