Regular Season Round 24: Al Arabi - Qatar Club 89-75

Date: January 22, 2017
Another interesting game was again a derby match of two local teams from Doha: Al Arabi (#3) and Qatar Sports Club (#5). Al Arabi (8-3) won against visiting Qatar Sports Club (5-6) 89-75. The game was mostly controlled by Al Arabi. Qatar Sports Club managed to win second period 25-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Qatar Sports Club 43-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by American-Ghanian Adamu Saaka (198-88, college: Furman) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 26 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists and Gueye Momar Talla supported him with 19 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Al Arabi players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 37 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds by American point guard James Justice (178-89, college: Martin Methodist) did not help to save the game for Qatar Sports Club. His fellow American import forward Quinton Doggett (206-90, college: Southern) added 14 points. Al Arabi have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 8-3 record having just three points less than leader El Jaysh. Loser Qatar Sports Club keeps the fifth place with six games lost. Al Arabi's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Gharafa.
