Regular Season Round 33: Niigata Albirex - Nagoya DD 74-85

An interesting game for Diamond Dolphins (20-12) which played road game in Niigata against 3rd placed Niigata Albirex (17-15). Second ranked Diamond Dolphins managed to get a 11-point victory 85-74. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Niigata Albirex. The game was mostly controlled by Diamond Dolphins. Niigata Albirex was better in third quarter 28-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Diamond Dolphins made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. American players dominated the game. Forward Jerome Tillman (201-87, college: Ohio, agency: Inception Sports) stepped up and scored 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas) with 22 points and 8 rebounds and Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) scored 23 points and 5 rebounds. Niigata Albirex's coach Kazuhiro Shoji tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Diamond Dolphins maintains second place with 20-12 record having seven points less than leader SeaHorses, which they share with Chiba Jets. Niigata Albirex at the other side keeps the third position with 15 games lost. Diamond Dolphins will play against league's leader Toshiba Thunders in Kanagawa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Niigata Albirex will play on the road against Ryukyu GK in Okinawa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
