Regular Season Round 15: Maccabi Rishon - Maccabi K/G 77-69

Very expected game when 12th ranked Maccabi K/G (3-12) lost to seventh ranked Maccabi Rishon (8-7) in Rishon Le-Zion 69-77. Maccabi K/G was ahead by 5 points at the halftime before a 50-37 second half run of Maccabi Rishon. They also forced 19 Maccabi K/G turnovers and outrebounded them 38-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American power forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) who scored 20 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Avi Ben-Chimol (194-85) chipped in 7 points and 8 assists. Maccabi Rishon's coach Arik Shivek allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American Curtis Kelly (205-88, college: Kansas St., agency: HMS) who recorded 18 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import forward Brandon Bowman (206-84, college: Georgetown) added 12 points respectively. Defending champion moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Hapoel T-A. Maccabi K/G at the other side stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Maccabi Rishon's next round opponent will be Galil Gilboa (#11) in Rosh Pina which should be theoretically an easy game. Maccabi K/G will play at home against Hapoel Eilat and hope to win that game.
