Regular Season Round 30: Qingdao E. - Jilin NE T. 119-110

Rather expected game when 14th ranked Jilin Tigers (12-18) were defeated on the road by eleventh ranked Qingdao Eagles (14-15) 119-110 on Sunday. Qingdao Eagles made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Qingdao Eagles outrebounded Jilin Tigers 42-29 including 32 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Jilin Tigers were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Dominique Jones (193-88, college: S.Florida) had a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Greek center Loukas Mavrokefalidis (207-84) chipped in 22 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Qingdao Eagles' coach XiaoBin Gong used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American swingman Jabari Brown (193-92, college: Missouri) with 44 points (!!!) and his fellow American import forward Malcolm Thomas (206-88, college: San Diego St.) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Qingdao Eagles and four Jilin Tigers players scored in double figures. Qingdao Eagles maintains eleventh position with 14-15 record. Loser Jilin Tigers keep the fourteenth place with 18 games lost. Qingdao Eagles will face higher ranked Liaoning Hunters (#3) in Yingkou in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Jilin Tigers will play on the road against Bayi Rockets (#19) in Ningbo and hope to win that game.
