Regular Season Round 15: Melbourne - Perth 79-87

Date: January 22, 2017
The game in Melbourne was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Perth Lynx (11-7) played at the court of 7th ranked Boomers (4-14). Perth Lynx managed to secure a 8-point victory 87-79 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-79. Perth Lynx forced 24 Boomers turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for American swingman Samantha Whitcomb (178-88, college: Washington) who led the winners and scored 25 points and 5 assists. Canadian center Ruth Hamblin (198-94, college: Oregon St., agency: LBM Management) accounted for 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Guard Madeleine Garrick (178-92) came up with 21 points and 5 rebounds and forward Olivia Thompson (185-93) added 8 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Boomers in the defeat. Boomers' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Perth Lynx moved-up to third place. Boomers lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 14 games lost. Perth Lynx will meet at home league's leader Dandenong Rangers in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Boomers will play against Bendigo Spirit (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
