Regular Season Round 32: Kagawa FA - Tokyo Z 58-83
Date: January 22, 2017
The game in Takamatsu supposed to be also quite interesting. Third ranked Tokyo Z (12-19) played at the court of 5th ranked Kagawa FA (10-20). Tokyo Z smashed Kagawa FA 83-58 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kagawa FA. The game without a history. Tokyo Z led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Kagawa FA to just 6 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Kagawa FA 46-35 including 33 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Deon Jones (198-93, college: Monmouth) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Shota Watanabe (180-93) chipped in 21 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Tokyo Z players scored in double figures. American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) produced 18 points and Vincentian power forward Nyika Williams (203-87, college: Pacific) added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Tokyo Z maintains third position with 12-19 record having eleven points less than leader Gunma. Loser Kagawa FA keeps the fifth place with 20 games lost. Tokyo Z will face Kagoshima (#6) in Renova in the next round. Kagawa FA will play on the road against the league's leader Gunma and hope to win that game.
