Regular Season Round 28: Quimsa - Ferrocarril 89-90

Sixth-ranked Quimsa (13-14) made lots of trouble for second ranked Ferrocarril (18-9) in Santiado Estero on Monday. The visitors from Buenos Aires managed to secure only one-point victory 90-89. However their fans expected much easier game. Quimsa was trailing by 14 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 19-17 charge of Ferrocarril, which allowed them to win the game. Ferrocarril outrebounded Quimsa 29-18 including 24 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. International point guard Franco Balbi (185-89) fired a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 assists for the winners. American-Puerto Rican Ramon Clemente (200-85, college: Wichita St.) chipped in 18 points. The former international swingman Luciano Gonzalez (190-90) produced 35 points (!!!) and 5 assists and American guard Carl Elliott (193-83, college: G.Washington) added 19 points respectively for lost side. Five Ferrocarril and four Quimsa players scored in double figures. Ferrocarril maintains second position with 18-9 record behind leader San Lorenzo. Quimsa lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 14 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
