There was no surprise when 14th ranked Macae (3-13) was edged at home by eighth ranked Vivo/Franca (9-7) 78-75 on Monday. Strangely Macae outrebounded Vivo/Franca 36-24 including 27 on the defensive glass. Macae was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for international point guard Henrique Coelho (183-93) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 7 assists. Point guard Alexey Borges (188-95) contributed with 11 points and 7 assists for the winners. Four Vivo/Franca players scored in double figures. Vivo/Franca's coach Helinho Garcia used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American point guard Kendall Anthony (173-93, college: Richmond) replied with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and power forward Luiz Paulo Dos Santos (210-89, college: Slippery Rock) added 13 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Macae. Vivo/Franca moved-up to sixth place. Loser Macae keeps the fourteenth position with 13 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
