An exciting game was played in Alma-Ata. Tobol faced Almat.Legion. Guests from Kostanay (9-3) defeated host Almat.Legion (5-7) 97-81. Tobol forced 19 Almat.Legion turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Almat.Legion was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was forward Anton Bykov (200-89) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds. Swingman Maksim Voeykov (195-85) chipped in 24 points and 5 rebounds. Four Tobol players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Ruslan Aitkali (195-97) who recorded 24 points and 8 rebounds and international guard Yuriy Kozhanov (190-90) added 20 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Tobol will face Kazygurt (#4) in Shymkent in the next round. Almat.Legion will play again on the road against Tobol in Kostanay and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
