Fifth-ranked Rieker KN (12-12) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Kosice (22-4) in Komarno on Wednesday. The visitors from Kosice managed to secure only two-point victory 72-70. However their fans expected much easier game. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian guard Stefan Matovic (203-91) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. The former international center Michal Batka (204-87) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American forward Wayne Langston (201-93, college: Murray St.) replied with 17 points and 9 rebounds and international center Boris Bojanovsky (217-93, college: Florida St.) added 12 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Rieker KN. Four Rieker KN players scored in double figures. Kosice have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 22-4 record. Rieker KN at the other side dropped to the sixth place with 12 games lost. Kosice are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Nitra (#11) in Nitra in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Rieker KN will play on the road against Handlova (#5) in MBK Handlova and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
