Regular Season Round 16: Melbourne - Dandenong 66-78

The game in Melbourne was also quite interesting. Second ranked Dandenong Rangers (14-6) played at the court of 7th ranked Boomers (4-16). Dandenong Rangers defeated Boomers 78-66 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Dandenong Rangers. Boomers was better in third quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Dandenong Rangers made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Dandenong Rangers especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. It was a very good performance for international forward Sara Blicavs (188-93) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 6 rebounds. The former international guard Stephanie Cumming (178-90) contributed with 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. The former international swingman Alice Kunek (187-91) replied with 17 points and guard Madeleine Garrick (178-92) added 11 points in the effort for Boomers. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Dandenong Rangers have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 14-6 record behind leader Sydney. Boomers lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 16 games lost. Dandenong Rangers will face Townsville Fire (#4) at home in the next round. Boomers will play against the league's leader Sydney Uni Flames and hope to win that game.
