Regular Season Round 29: Echague - Boca Jrs 96-72

Date: January 26, 2017
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when tenth ranked Echague (5-23) rolled over 9th ranked Boca Juniors (8-19) in Parana 96-72 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Echague. Boca Juniors was better in third quarter 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American center Derrick Caracter (206-88, college: UTEP) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Dominican guard Gelvis Solano (185-94, college: Merrimack, agency: Basket Management Solutions) contributed with 26 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Echague players scored in double figures. Power forward Cristian Amicucci (200-85) answered with 18 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and Greek Fotios Lampropoulos (206-83) added 15 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) in the effort for Boca Juniors. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Echague maintains tenth place with 5-23 record. Loser Boca Juniors keeps the ninth position with 19 games lost. Echague will face league's second-placed Estudiantes C. in Concordia in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
