Regular Season Round 19: Helmi Basket - Huima 68-79

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 10th ranked Helmi Basket's (3-15) home loss to ninth ranked Aanekosken (7-14) 68-79. The game was mostly controlled by Aanekosken. Helmi Basket was better in fourth quarter 15-7. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Aanekosken dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Helmi Basket's 32. Aanekosken forced 24 Helmi Basket turnovers and had a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American center Kenya Robinson (183-70, college: New Orleans) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Her fellow American import guard Faith Randolph (178, college: Virginia) accounted for 22 points and 4 assists for the winning side. Guard Sini Makela (175-97) came up with 19 points and 6 rebounds and international guard Lotta-Maj Lahtinen (173-99) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Helmi Basket in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aanekosken maintains ninth place with 7-14 record. Helmi Basket lost ninth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Aanekosken will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Helmi Basket will play on the road against ViVe (#8) in Vimpeli and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
