Regular Season Round 16: HyPo - TuNMKY 92-94

Seventh-ranked HyPo (8-8) gave a tough game to first ranked TuNMKY (14-3) in Hyvinkaa on Friday. The visitors from Turun managed to secure only two-point victory 94-92. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-15. But HyPo won second period 25-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. TuNMKY made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 51.6 percentage. TuNMKY looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Eero Innamaa (186-98) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists and forward Tomi Lommi (193-96) who added 29 points during the contest. Four TuNMKY players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard De'Andre Upchurch (188-91, college: Tarleton St.) responded with 37 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Ilkka Blomqvist (196-84) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists. HyPo's coach Besim Maxhuni rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. TuNMKY maintains first position in Division with 14-3 record. HyPo at the other side keeps the seventh place with eight games lost. TuNMKY are looking forward to face Espoo Basket (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. HyPo will play against Karkkila (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
