Regular Season Round 17: Paulistano - Mogi 77-78

A very close game took place in Sao Paolo between Mogi and Paulistano. Eighth ranked Mogi (9-7) got a very close victory on the road over 10th ranked Paulistano (8-8). Mogi managed to escape with a 1-point win 78-77 on Friday evening. The best player for the winners was naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF, agency: Interperformances) who scored 27 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Tyrone Curnell (203-88, college: Valdosta St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Four Mogi players scored in double figures. The former international Jhonatan Luz dos Santos (196-87) produced 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard George Lucas (195-96) added 17 points and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Paulistano's coach Gustavo Conti rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mogi have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Paulistano lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with eight games lost. Mogi will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Paulistano will play against Paschoalotto/Bauru (#4) and hope to secure a win.
