Regular Season Round 4: Irtysh - Okzhetpes 41-56

An exciting game was played in Pavlodar. Third ranked Okzhetpes faced their biggest opponent Irtysh. Guests from Kokshetay (1-7) defeated host Irtysh (3-5) 56-41. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 56-41. Okzhetpes held Irtysh to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 37.1 percent accuracy of the winners. Okzhetpes forced 24 Irtysh turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Russian center Darya Panasiuk (190-88) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and Russian forward Tatiana Grigoryeva (178-90) who added 18 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side swingman Daria Koroleva (179-88) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and center Mariya Pissareva (182-95) scored 8 points and 7 rebounds. Irtysh's coach Evgeniy Ovsiannikov rotated ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending champion maintains third position with 1-7 record having seven points less than leader Astana Tigers. Loser Irtysh keeps the second place with five games lost. Okzhetpes will meet league's leader Astana Tigers on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Irtysh will play again against Okzhetpes in Kokshetay and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
